Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how iFileSync (“we”, “our”, or “the app”) handles user information when you use our app and this website. We are committed to minimizing data collection and protecting your privacy.

Overview

iFileSync enables users to transfer and synchronize files between their device and their personal cloud storage account. We do not collect, access, or store your personal files, your cloud login credentials, or your payment card details.

Information We Collect

We collect only the limited information required to operate and improve the app.

1. User-provided information

• Name and email address — only if you voluntarily provide them for support or communication.

2. Automatically collected information

• App usage data (e.g. feature usage and interaction data).
• Device and diagnostic data (e.g. crash logs and performance metrics).
• A pseudonymous app-instance / installation identifier used by our analytics and crash-reporting tools.
• Purchase and subscription information (e.g. your Google Play purchase token), used solely to verify and maintain your subscription.

We do not collect the Android advertising ID. The app explicitly removes the AD_ID permission and disables advertising-ID collection in our analytics provider.

We do not collect, access, or store your personal files.

Cloud Account Connection

To enable file synchronization:

• You authenticate directly with your cloud storage provider.
• We do not collect or store your login credentials. Your password is verified directly with your cloud provider and is never stored by us.
• Two-factor authentication (where required) is handled by your cloud provider.
• A secure, encrypted session token may be stored locally on your device to keep you signed in. It is encrypted using your device's secure storage, is never shared with us or third parties, and can be removed at any time by signing out or uninstalling the app.

How We Use Information

• Provide core app functionality (file transfer and synchronization).
• Improve performance and reliability.
• Monitor and fix errors.
• Verify and maintain subscriptions.
• Protect against misuse and unauthorized access.

Third-Party Services

The app uses the following third-party services, each governed by its own privacy policy:

• Google Firebase (Analytics & Crashlytics) — collects app usage data, diagnostic/crash data, and a pseudonymous app-instance identifier. Advertising-ID collection is disabled.
• Google Cloud Functions for Firebase — hosts our subscription-verification service.
• Google Play Billing — processes subscription purchases.
• Apple iCloud — provides authentication and the cloud storage you choose to sync to (your own account). Files are transferred directly between your device and your iCloud account.

These providers process information in accordance with their own privacy policies.

Our Website

This website is a marketing site for the app. Separately from the app:

• Cloud Catch, the game on our home page, runs entirely in your browser. Your high score is saved in your browser's local storage and is never transmitted to us.
• Embedded video. Our demo video is hosted on YouTube and only loads once you click play. Until then, YouTube sets no cookies. When you do play it, YouTube's own privacy policy applies.
• Advertising. This site may display third-party advertisements. Ad providers, including Google, may use cookies or similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites. You can opt out of personalized advertising from Google at google.com/settings/ads, or opt out of third-party vendor cookies at aboutads.info.

Data Sharing

We do not sell or rent your personal data. We may share limited information only:

• With the service providers listed above that support app functionality (e.g. analytics, billing, and hosting).
• When required by law or valid legal process.

Data Storage and Security

• Sensitive data (such as your session token) is encrypted and stored securely on your device.
• We do not store your cloud credentials or your files on our servers.
• We implement industry-standard safeguards to protect data.

Payments

Subscription payments are processed securely via Google Play Billing. We do not store or process your payment card information. To verify and maintain your subscription, a purchase token is sent to our subscription-verification service.

International Data Transfers

Some of our service providers process data outside your country of residence. Our subscription-verification service is hosted in the United States (us-central1), and our analytics provider operates globally. Where applicable, these transfers are governed by appropriate safeguards.

Data Retention

We retain automatically collected analytics and diagnostic data only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy, after which it is deleted or anonymized. Locally stored data (such as your session token) remains on your device until you sign out or uninstall the app.

Your Rights

Depending on your location (including under the GDPR and South Africa's POPIA), you may have the right to:

• Request access to your personal data.
• Request correction of inaccurate data.
• Request deletion of your data.
• Object to or restrict certain processing.

Children's Privacy

iFileSync is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.

Data Deletion

You can request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us. Upon a verified request, any associated data we hold will be permanently deleted. You can also remove all locally stored data at any time by signing out or uninstalling the app.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Material changes will be communicated within the app or via official channels, and the “Last updated” date above will be revised.

Terms of Service

By downloading or using iFileSync (“the app”) or this website, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

What iFileSync Does

iFileSync copies files from a folder you choose on your Android device to a folder you choose in your own cloud storage account. It is an independent utility. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Apple Inc. or any cloud provider, and you are responsible for complying with your cloud provider's own terms of service.

Your Account and Your Files

• You must have a valid account with your cloud storage provider, and you are responsible for keeping its credentials secure.
• You are responsible for the content you sync, and for having the right to store it.
• Files transfer directly between your device and your own cloud account. We do not host, inspect, or retain copies of your files.

Backups Are Not a Guarantee

iFileSync is a convenience tool, not a guaranteed backup service. Sync depends on factors outside our control — network availability, device battery and power-saving settings, operating-system restrictions on background work, your available cloud storage, and your cloud provider's own availability. You should not rely on iFileSync as your only copy of important data. We recommend maintaining at least one independent backup.

Sync Behaviour

Sync is one-way and additive: iFileSync uploads new and changed files from your device to your cloud folder. It does not delete files from your cloud account when you delete them locally, and it does not download files from the cloud to your device.

Subscriptions and Billing

• Automatic backup requires a paid subscription, sold and billed through Google Play.
• Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You can manage or cancel at any time in your Google Play account; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
• Refunds are handled by Google Play under its refund policy.
• Prices may change. We will give notice of any change as required by Google Play.

Acceptable Use

You agree not to use iFileSync to store or distribute unlawful material, to interfere with or attempt to reverse-engineer the app or its services, or to use it in any way that violates applicable law or your cloud provider's terms.

Availability and Changes

We may update, change, or discontinue features at any time. We aim to keep the app working reliably, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.

Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability

The app is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, arising from your use of or inability to use the app. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under the consumer-protection laws of your country that cannot lawfully be limited.

Privacy

Our handling of your information is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
